This listing is for a position at the 10 story, $200+M, 255kgsf, new Fort Lauderdale US Courthouse project. Provide professional/technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for design and construction support pertaining to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing expertise. This is a full-time on-site position beginning January 2025 through substantial completion planned for December 2026.
The SME shall be a senior professional experienced with interpreting construction documents for design review and quality assurance. The SME shall possess professional registration as a mechanical engineer and have a minimum of seven (7) years specialized experience in their disciplines, and possess the below listed skills and abilities.
Daily Responsibilities:
• SME shall function as the field quality assurance inspector for MEP/HVAC systems.
• Building System Commissioning – Provide Cx program oversight and coordination of the Design-Builder’s Cx Plan. Work to promote project’s achievement of system performance in compliance with the intent of design basis.
• The SME shall assist in cooperation with APSI’s CxA (Commissioning Agent) to provide effective oversight.
• Technical Assistance may be requested outside of area of expertise when necessary.
• Participate in ongoing meetings as required through the commissioning process to
protect the best interest of the project through substantial completion and acceptance.
Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certifications, Clearances, etc.):
The SME shall possess professional registration as a mechanical engineer and have a minimum of seven (7) years specialized experience in their disciplines.
An engineering degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degrees will be viewed more favorably).
Ability to pass a US government security background clearance (possessing a current, unexpired clearance will be viewed more favorably).
Preferred Qualifications:
• GSA Courthouse Experience or Equivalent MEP Scope/Commissioning
• Commissioning Experience and Industry Certification(s)

• The ideal candidate will have very good organizational skills, be able to communicate effectively with the general contractor, designers, and the owner alike, and be able to work with the digital tools of the present day for communication and documentation.
