About the Role

Join a mission-driven team supporting the modernization of the San Francisco VA Medical Center, one of the most respected healthcare institutions serving our nation’s veterans.
As a Construction Manager (Electrical), you’ll oversee multiple large-scale construction and renovation projects focused on seismic upgrades, research facilities, and hospital infrastructure improvements.

This role is ideal for an experienced electrical construction professional passionate about delivering complex healthcare projects that enhance patient safety and operational reliability.

Key Projects

  • Building 8: Correct Seismic Deficiencies
  • Building 40: New Research Building – Advanced Demolition & Construction
  • Building 6: Correct Seismic Deficiencies
  • Buildings 3, 5, 7, 11: Modernization & Infrastructure Upgrades

What You’ll Do

Electrical Systems Oversight

  • Lead all aspects of hospital electrical construction, including underground installations, power distribution (high/low voltage), emergency generators, grounding, and lighting systems.
  • Oversee installation of specialized medical and laboratory electrical systems (MRI, CT, PET, sterilization, and more).

Low-Voltage & Special Systems

  • Manage low-voltage networks such as fire alarms, data/telecom, nurse call, code blue, access control, security, and HVAC digital controls.
  • Ensure integration and performance of specialized hospital and research equipment.

Project Coordination & Compliance

  • Review design and construction documents to verify field accuracy and adherence to federal and VA standards.
  • Coordinate across disciplines (electrical, civil, structural, environmental, architectural).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and building codes.

Quality Assurance & Reporting

  • Conduct field inspections to assess progress, quality, and safety.
  • Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, and change order documentation.
  • Track project milestones and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management (ABET-accredited) or current U.S. licensure to practice engineering.
  • Experience: 7–10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering; minimum of 5 years inspecting large, complex electrical construction projects (hospital or federal experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of design documents, site conditions, and field modifications; ability to identify and resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in project documentation tools and software.
